Here you will find clear answers to the most common questions about TDA’s licences, insurance, and safety related to track riding. The goal is for riders to feel safe, informed, and well‑prepared for their events.
Does TDA organise its own trackdays?
No. TDA does not organise its own trackdays. We support organisers and riders with licences, solutions, safety routines, and simplified instructions.
What can a rider expect from an organiser?
The organiser is responsible for ensuring the event is safe and well‑managed. This includes:
Clear group division Safety briefing Ambulance on site Clear rules for riding and flag signals
If you need extra support or feel unsure about anything — speak up. Established organisers in Sweden are very helpful.
Is there a checklist that can simplify my trackday?
Yes. TDA provides a consolidated document on the website that is useful to print and review before your trackday.
Why doesn’t my regular motorcycle insurance apply on a racetrack?
Most insurance companies exclude track riding, either directly or indirectly. The reason is that they want to limit their risk. Therefore, a separate licence with clear terms is required.
Does my TDA licence apply even if I already have accident insurance?
Yes. It is completely fine to have double insurance in Sweden. The typical outcome is:
Costs (care, medicine, travel, equipment) are only compensated once. The insurance companies decide who pays what — you do not need to do anything.
Personal injuries (e.g., medical disability and scarring) can be compensated by multiple insurances simultaneously. This means you may receive compensation both from the TDA licence and from your private accident insurance.
In short: The TDA licence does not conflict with other protection — it strengthens your total coverage during track riding.
Why doesn’t my regular accident insurance cover track riding?
Most insurers exclude track riding in their standard terms — often using vague wording about circuits, areas, timing, or competition‑like conditions. TDA’s licences are designed to provide clear and valid protection specifically for on‑track riding, regardless of how you ride.
What applies to equipment and compensation?

Who do I contact in case of injury?
Contact the insurer (If) directly. Provide:

The insurer will then contact TDA for verification. All communication goes through the insurer.
What qualifications does the ambulance staff have?
This varies between ambulance providers. Our ambulance partners (within TDA) always use qualified personnel:

They are experienced in motorsport, protective equipment, and the speeds involved.
Should I be worried about riding on a racetrack?
No. It is normal to feel nervous, but you develop quickly as a rider. Many find they become more confident even in regular traffic.
Is everyone super fast on the track?
No. Track riding is for all levels and divided into speed groups. The culture is helpful and inclusive — ask for help and you will get it.
What equipment do I need and what should I consider?
This varies slightly between organisers, but generally required:

Do I need to have my motorcycle inspected?
Some organisers perform a basic safety check; others use checklists. Your motorcycle must be in good condition.
Can I ride with street tyres?
Yes, as long as the tyres are in good condition. R‑tyres or slicks are usually not required. Remember that tyre pressure and temperature significantly affect handling.
Can I ride with a passenger?
Normally no — not during track riding. Some organisers allow it under special circumstances.
Is the TDA licence valid on all circuits?
The licence is valid on all TDA‑recommended circuits in Sweden. See Circuits on the website.
Is the TDA licence valid abroad, and for whom?
The Rider Licence is valid in the Nordics for individuals covered by Social Insurance in: EU / EEA / Switzerland / United Kingdom.
TDA is working on launching Rider Licences for Europe, expected in autumn 2026.
Can I transfer my TDA licence to another event?
The licence is personal and linked to the insurance period or a specific event.
Can I buy a TDA licence on site?
We are currently working on various solutions with our partners. We recommend purchasing the licence in advance (online) to avoid stress and queues. For racing events, distribution will be handled together with the organiser.
Are the Instructor Licence and Rider Licence the same?
The terms are the same, but the Instructor Licence is initiated or often subsidised by the organiser. Instructors may use their Instructor Licence at external events, usually as riders.
