TrackDay Alliance

The trackday culture has grown rapidly, but regulations, insurance terms, and organiser responsibilities have not kept pace.

Riders and organisers have long lacked clear guidance on what applies during on‑track riding, timing, and competition‑like activities. TDA was created to bring clarity to an area that has been unclear.

Why TDA exists

Ambiguous terms such as “enclosed area”, “training”, “competition” and “timing” make many riders believe they are insured — while in practice they may be completely unprotected. There are also differences in how insurance companies assess on‑track riding, creating uncertainty for both riders and organisers.

At the same time, organisers carry extensive legal responsibilities, especially regarding workplace safety, event safety, and third‑party protection.

TDA’s mission is to create clarity for all parties.

What TDA provides

TDA establishes organiser, marshal, instructor, and rider licences that function as permits to conduct or participate in trackdays and circuit training.

The licences are built on:

  • unified rules for organisers

  • clear information for riders

  • correct handling of legal requirements

  • mandatory insurance coverage from If, tailored for on‑track riding

TDA has worked together with insurers, organisers, track owners, and riders to create a safer and legally correct foundation for trackdays.

TDA Licences

Organiser Licence – For organisers who want to meet legal requirements and minimise risk. Marshal Licence – For marshals covered by the organiser’s workplace safety responsibility. Instructor Licence – Instructors riding on the track are considered riders and therefore require a rider licence or equivalent. Rider Licence – For riders participating in trackdays, open practice, training, or competition‑like activities.

Each licence includes mandatory insurance coverage from If. We provide a simple, transparent, and flexible licence model.

Insurance

The insurer is If Skadeförsäkring AB (publ). Insurance terms and information are provided by If.

TDA is not an insurance intermediary. The insurance is an integrated part of the licence.

TDA’s role

TDA is a licensing organisation for trackdays, circuit training, and competition‑like sporting activities. We establish rules, requirements, and safety standards for licensing. TDA’s documents describe licence rules and organiser processes.
