TDA Organiser Licences

TDA is the group representative for track days, circuit training and competition-like activities. As an organiser, TDA's licences give you the insurance cover required by law and by your duty of care as employer, plus a common set of rules with approved circuits and approved organisers. TDA offers three licences:

1. Organiser Licence – motor-racing insurance (Sweden)

Under Swedish law (1976:357) the organiser must hold motor-racing insurance for competition, training, demonstration or practice within an enclosed area. Ordinary road insurance does not apply on a circuit, and the cover must protect third parties and spectators up to SEK 100 million. It does not cover riders, passengers or officials.

With the TDA Organiser Licence you are covered by the motor-racing insurance TDA, as group representative, has taken out with If, and you organise under TDA's rules (Organiser Policy Guide).

2. Officials Licence – duty of care (Nordic)

Officials and instructors working at the event fall under the organiser's duty of care under the Work Environment Act, whether paid or volunteers. If someone is injured, the organiser may be liable.

The TDA Officials Licence gives your officials insurance cover during the event and covers a set number per day, with the option to add more.

3. Instructor Licence (Nordic)

An instructor riding on the circuit counts as a rider and is not covered by the Officials Licence. The Instructor Licence is personal, covers the instructor when riding and is also valid at other approved events. It is the role, not the person, that decides which rules apply.

Approved organisers – information for riders

A TDA Rider Licence applies to an event when the organiser is on the list below, the circuit is TDA-approved and your licence type covers that circuit. Check all three before booking. Organisers on the list also run events at circuits that are not approved. Dates, entry and terms are confirmed with the organiser; whether the licence applies is decided by the lists.

Insurance

The insurer is If P&C Insurance Ltd (publ). As a licence holder you are covered by the group insurance TDA, as group representative and policyholder, has taken out with If. Terms are provided by If, and claims are reported directly to If. TDA is not an insurance intermediary.

VAT

As a TDA licence holder you are covered by the group insurance that Trackday Alliance, as group representative, has taken out with If. The licence fee is therefore exempt from VAT under Chapter 10, Section 32 of the Swedish VAT Act (2023:200). No VAT is added and none is included – the price you see is the price you pay. This applies to all customers, in Sweden and abroad.
